# Skeddy Telegram bot: how it works and when to use it

> How the Skeddy Telegram bot creates reminders, recurring schedules, tasks and group alerts, plus its limits and the best alternatives.

Skeddy is a free Telegram reminder bot. Send @SkeddyBot a sentence such as “call John in 20 minutes” and it replies with a scheduled reminder. A Mini App inside Telegram handles more detailed recurrence, task lists and group schedules without requiring a separate download.

It is one of the clearest choices if Telegram is already an inbox you reliably read. It is less useful if Telegram notifications are muted, if the people sharing a reminder live on another chat platform, or if you need a conventional project manager rather than a small reminder and task tool.

We build Pokobot, a WhatsApp alternative. This guide is based on Skeddy's official site and live Telegram listing checked on 29 September 2026. Skeddy reports that it is free, has operated since 2016 and sends more than one million reminders a month. Those usage figures are the developer's claims, not independently audited numbers.

## The short answer

Use Skeddy if you want free personal or group reminders inside Telegram. Natural-language messages cover quick schedules, while the Mini App gives recurring reminders a visual editor and keeps tasks in a checkable list. Snooze buttons make it easy to defer a reminder when it arrives.

Use Telegram's built-in scheduled messages if you only need an occasional note to your future self and do not need a separate list. Use a full task manager if reminders belong inside projects. Use Pokobot if the alert must arrive in WhatsApp, which is a different choice of inbox rather than a claim that one bot is universally better.

| Option | Best for | Delivery | Main limitation |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Skeddy | Free Telegram reminders and group schedules | Telegram bot message | Only useful when Telegram notifications get attention |
| Telegram scheduled message | An occasional reminder to yourself | Telegram Saved Messages | No dedicated reminder list or conversational management |
| Pokobot | Personal reminders in WhatsApp | WhatsApp message | No Telegram delivery or group reminders |
| Todoist | Projects, filters and shared task systems | App, desktop and email notifications | More setup than a chat bot |

## What is the Skeddy bot?

Skeddy is the Telegram account @SkeddyBot. It reads ordinary scheduling phrases, confirms the time and sends a new Telegram message when the reminder is due. The bot supports one-time reminders, repeating reminders, notes and tasks. The current product also works inside Telegram groups.

The chat handles fast capture. The Mini App handles structure. Open it when you want a calendar-style schedule, a recurrence rule, a date range or a list of tasks with checkboxes and due dates. This split avoids forcing every simple reminder through a form while still giving complicated repeats visible controls.

Skeddy is not an official Telegram feature. It is a third-party bot running inside Telegram. That distinction matters for privacy, support and continuity. Telegram delivers the messages, but Skeddy's operator interprets and stores the reminder data needed to send them later.

## How to set up Skeddy in Telegram

Setup stays inside Telegram. Confirm that the username is exactly @SkeddyBot, tap Start, then set the language and timezone in the Mini App. The timezone step is not administrative trivia. A correctly parsed sentence still fires at the wrong local hour when the account timezone is wrong.

Start with a one-time reminder whose result you can check soon, such as “remind me in 10 minutes to test Skeddy.” After it arrives, try a dated reminder and then a recurrence. This exposes notification or timezone problems before you trust the bot with an important deadline.

1. **Open the verified bot** Visit t.me/SkeddyBot or follow the button from skeddy.me. Check the exact @SkeddyBot username, then tap Start.

2. **Set language and timezone** Open the Mini App and confirm the timezone Skeddy will use to interpret phrases such as tomorrow morning.

3. **Send a test reminder** Write a plain sentence with an action and a near-term time. Wait for Skeddy's confirmation and check the interpreted schedule.

4. **Allow Telegram notifications** Make sure the bot chat and Telegram itself are not muted or restricted by the phone's notification settings.

- `Remind me to call the dentist tomorrow at 10am`
- `Check the pie every 10 minutes`
- `Pay for internet on the first day of every month`

## Recurring reminders, snoozing and tasks

Skeddy accepts simple repeating language in chat and exposes more precise recurrence in the Mini App. Its official examples include intervals, days of the week, dates within a month or year and a start or end range. That visual editor is useful for verifying a rule that would be hard to describe unambiguously in one sentence.

When a reminder arrives, inline buttons can snooze it by a preset interval, and a custom time can be entered when the preset is wrong. A reminder can instead be saved as a task so it remains visible until checked off. The difference is practical: a reminder announces a moment, while a task preserves unfinished state.

Use a task for work that may take several attempts or needs an explicit completion record. Use a repeating reminder for a prompt that is useful each time whether or not the previous instance was acknowledged, such as taking a movement break or putting bins out each week.

## Using Skeddy in a Telegram group

Skeddy can be added to a Telegram group for reminders that should reach everyone in that chat. The official instructions use the /add command to create the reminder, and the due message returns to the same group. This can work for a household, a small team or a community that already coordinates in Telegram.

A group reminder is visible to the group, so do not put private health, financial or personal details into a shared schedule. Agree on who may create recurring alerts and how they are removed. A bot that everyone can invoke without a convention can turn a useful group into a noisy one quickly.

Group support is a genuine difference from Pokobot. Pokobot's current reminder service is self-only and does not create WhatsApp group reminders. Choose the inbox and audience you actually need rather than assuming every chat bot supports the same recipient model.

## Is Skeddy free?

Skeddy's official site says the bot is free, with no subscription and no premium tier. The project accepts optional support through Patreon to help cover operating costs. That makes it unusually generous for a maintained reminder service with natural-language scheduling and a Mini App.

Free does not remove the service dependency. Reminders rely on Skeddy continuing to operate, Telegram delivering the bot message and your device allowing the notification. Keep irreplaceable appointments in a calendar or another system of record as well. A chat reminder should help you notice the commitment, not be the only place the commitment exists.

## Skeddy alternatives

Telegram can schedule a message to Saved Messages without a bot. Hold the send button, choose Schedule Message and select the future time. This is enough for an occasional self-reminder, but it does not provide Skeddy's dedicated list, natural-language recurrence, snooze workflow or tasks.

Pokobot uses the same conversational pattern in WhatsApp. It is useful where WhatsApp is checked constantly and Telegram is secondary. It supports one-time and recurring reminders, including frequent repeats bounded by daily hours. It does not support Telegram delivery, notes, a Mini App task list or group reminders.

Todoist is the better category of product when the reminder belongs to a project with labels, priorities, filters and collaboration. It takes more setup and keeps the task manager as the source of truth. The right alternative depends less on syntax than on which inbox you read and whether you need a reminder, a shared group message or a project system.

## Skeddy vs Pokobot

Skeddy is the stronger choice if Telegram is your primary chat app, you need reminders inside a Telegram group, or a free service is essential. Its Mini App also gives recurrence and tasks a visual home. Pokobot is the better fit when WhatsApp is the inbox you consistently read and the job is personal reminders rather than group coordination or note storage.

Both depend on chat notifications being allowed, and neither should be the sole record of a critical appointment. Test a near-term reminder, verify the timezone and inspect a recurring rule before trusting it. The product that reaches the inbox you actually notice will outperform the one with a longer feature list in an app you rarely open.
