# How to set reminders on WhatsApp

> Learn how to set and receive reminders on WhatsApp. Try a two-minute test, check notifications and your timezone, and manage recurring reminders.

To set a reminder on WhatsApp with Pokobot, open a chat with Poko, send what you want to remember and when, then check the confirmation. Poko sends a new WhatsApp message when the reminder is due.

You can use the same chat on Android or iPhone. There is no separate reminder app or account to set up. Start with a short test so you can see the request, confirmation, and reminder for yourself.

## How to receive reminders on WhatsApp

To receive reminders on WhatsApp, open a chat with Pokobot and send what you want to remember and when. Poko confirms the reminder and sends a new message in the same chat when it is due. Keep your phone connected to the internet and enable WhatsApp notifications to get an alert. No separate app or account is needed.

Try it in three steps. The button below opens WhatsApp with a two-minute reminder already typed. Review it, then press Send when you are ready.

1. **Open Poko and send a short test** Tap the example to open the chat. Keep the two-minute test or replace it with your own task and time before sending.

   - `Remind me to drink water in 2 minutes`

2. **Read the confirmation** Check the task, date, and time Poko replies with. The welcome message also names the timezone inferred from your phone number. If that is wrong, send “timezone” followed by your city, then check the reminder time again.

3. **Look for the reminder in the same chat** When the test is due, Poko sends the reminder as a new WhatsApp message. If the message is there but you did not get an alert, check that the Poko chat is unmuted and WhatsApp notifications are enabled. If there is no message, check the confirmed time and timezone, then send “list” to review pending reminders.

## What to include in your reminder message

Write the task and the time together: “call mom tomorrow at 6pm” or “pay rent on October 1 at 10am.” For a date, spelling out the month avoids ambiguity between day-first and month-first formats.

The confirmation is the check that matters. If you asked for 6pm and the reply shows a different time, correct it in the chat before you move on.

- `remind me to call mom tomorrow at 6pm`
- `remind me to take the cake out in 40 minutes`
- `remind me to pay rent on October 1 at 10am`

## Set daily, weekly, or yearly reminders

Add the repeat to the message: “every day,” “every Monday,” or “every year on May 12.” A recurring reminder keeps its schedule while your trial or subscription is active, until you cancel it.

For frequent reminders, include a daily window. “Stretch every 2 hours between 9am and 7pm” gives that reminder a daytime schedule so it can pause overnight.

- [Read our reminder usage study](https://www.pokobot.com/what-people-actually-set-reminders-for.md): The dated data behind how people use one-off and repeating reminders.

- `standup every weekday at 9:30am`
- `pay rent every month on the 1st at 10am`
- `stretch every 2 hours between 9am and 7pm`

## Change the time or cancel a reminder

Send “list” to see your pending reminders. To change one, name it and the new time: “move my call mom reminder to tomorrow at 7pm.” Check Poko's reply to make sure it changed the reminder you meant.

To remove one, send “cancel N,” replacing N with its number in the latest list. Cancelling a repeating reminder stops that schedule. Send “help” for the command reference.

- `list`
- `move my call mom reminder to tomorrow at 7pm`
- `cancel 2`
- `help`

## If your WhatsApp reminder does not appear

First, open the Poko chat. If the reminder message is there but you did not see an alert, check whether that chat is muted and whether WhatsApp notifications are allowed in your phone settings.

If there is no message, check the confirmed date and timezone, then send “list” to check pending reminders. For a repeat, also check its active window. An expired trial or subscription pauses reminders.

A phone without an internet connection cannot receive a WhatsApp message at the scheduled moment. Try a fresh two-minute test after checking these settings. If it still fails, contact us with the approximate time and timezone; you do not need to share private reminder text.

## FAQ

**How do I set a reminder on WhatsApp?** Open a chat with Pokobot and send the task and time, such as “remind me to call mom tomorrow at 6pm.” Check Poko's confirmation. The reminder arrives as a new message in the same WhatsApp chat.

**Does this work on Android and iPhone?** Yes. Pokobot sends reminders through WhatsApp on either phone. You need WhatsApp, an internet connection, and notifications enabled if you want an alert when the message arrives.

**Will a starred message or a pinned chat remind me later?** Starring and pinning help you find messages again. To use Poko for a timed reminder, send the task and time to the Poko chat and check that it confirms a schedule.

**Can I set reminders for someone else?** Yes, through Poko's separate “poke” feature. The recipient has to accept reminders from you first. An ordinary reminder you set in your own chat is for you.

**Can I set a repeating reminder?** Yes. Include the repeat and time, such as “standup every Monday at 9:30am.” For a frequent repeat, add a window such as “between 9am and 7pm.” Check the confirmation, and use “list” to review pending reminders.

**Are WhatsApp reminders free?** Try Pokobot free for 7 days, with no card required. A paid subscription is needed after the trial to keep reminders running. Current plans are on the pricing page.
