Starts at sunset on Sunday, October 10, 2027. Yom Kippur falls on 10 Tishrei, nine days after Rosh Hashanah begins, and starts at sunset the evening before. In 2027 the fast begins the evening of 10 October; in 2028 the evening of 29 September.

Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year, a 25-hour fast from sunset to nightfall the next day. In Israel the country effectively stops: no traffic, no broadcasts, airports closed.
