# Days until New Year's Eve 2026

> How many days until New Year's Eve 2026? Countdown to December 31, plus WhatsApp reminders to book plans, and to actually start the resolution in January.

It falls on Thursday, December 31, 2026. New Year's Eve is December 31, the last day of the year.

New Year's Eve is not a public holiday in most countries, but January 1 is almost everywhere. Restaurants, trains and event tickets for the night sell out weeks ahead.
The most useful reminder here is not for the night. It is the one on January 2 that asks whether you started the thing you said you would.

## The next few years

- 2026: Thursday, December 31, 2026
- 2027: Friday, December 31, 2027

## Get a nudge before it

Each button opens WhatsApp with one message already typed for Poko, dated for this year. Press Send and it arrives when it's due.

- `Remind me on December 10 at 7pm to book New Year's Eve plans`
- `Remind me on December 30 at 11am to buy what we need for New Year's Eve`
- `Remind me on January 2 at 9am to start the New Year resolution today`

## Questions, answered

**Is New Year's Eve a public holiday?** Generally not. January 1 is. Many offices close early on the 31st, but that is custom rather than law.

**Why is the third reminder after the date?** Because resolutions fail in the first week. A nudge on January 2 does more than a countdown ever will.

**How do the reminders work?** Each Remind me button opens WhatsApp with one message already typed for Poko, dated for this year's occurrence. You press Send, Poko confirms the date, and the message arrives on WhatsApp when it is due. Nothing is sent by this page.
